SUPPORT OUR 2020 FELLOWS

by Uplift

In June, Uplift will welcome eight young fellows to our organizing team. All donations will go to supporting our 2020 fellows!

In June, Uplift will welcome eight young fellows to our organizing team. These young people come from diverse backgrounds and communities on the frontlines of both the climate crisis and COVID-19. They are Indigenous, immigrants, queer, disabled, women, and femmes. They are rising for a livable climate, justice, and liberation.

The coronavirus is unveiling the myriad injustices of a system that causes certain communities to be disproportionately affected by crisis, including those who are elderly, disabled, fat, queer, trans, Black, brown, undocumented, unsheltered, and uninsured. The systems of power that target these communities are the same systems that create climate disaster.

At Uplift, we're responding to COVID-19 by not only supporting our families and communities through mutual aid relief efforts, but also imagining new ways of being and alternative systems that will create communities of care, regeneration, justice, and liberation for the long haul. Going back to “normal” is not an option. “Normal” was oppression for many and a steady path to climate catastrophe. Our generation won’t accept that.

By giving to Uplift today, you’re helping us create a thriving future. Your monthly donations will enable eight fellows from across the Southwest to organize for climate justice while adapting and responding to COVID-19. Fellows will undergo intensive training in community organizing, digital communication, and climate justice strategies. They will envision and plan the annual Uplift Climate Conference, which may move to smaller in-person gatherings or a digital convergence. In addition, they will partner with other local grassroots organizations to build capacity for the regional climate justice movement and help launch distributed Uplift chapters throughout the region.

Thank you for supporting the rising generation.
